CUSTOM CABLE BUILDER GUIDE

This guide runs through every option available for our custom cables.

Given the hundreds of thousands of different variations we offer, it would take us a lifetime to build every one and take a photo to see what each variation looks like. Instead, we cover off each part to give you an idea of what you can expect.

All cables come with NB Camping Equipment branding.

WIRE GAUGE:

Options: 13 AWG, 11 AWG, 8 AWG, 6 AWG

All wire options are Australian Made.

Our wire options are to suit the amperage required for your run. Some guidance on the maximum length suitable for each wire gauge can be found here. However, this is to suit 12v runs. When running solar panels (especially multiple solar panels in series), voltage can be much higher meaning a thinner gauge wire may be adequate. LENGTH:

Options: 1m, 2m, 3m, 4m, 6m, 7m, 8m, 9m, 10m

This is pretty simple. Pick the length you want each cable! This length is the actual length of the wire we use in the cable, any plugs/connectors will make the overall length of your cable a little longer. You can select lengths up to 10m, however we can do any length you need. Simply send us an email on sales@nbcampingequipment.com.au if you need lengths longer than 10m and we can do up a custom invoice.

NAKED OR SLEEVED:

Options: Naked or Sleeved

The Naked option leaves the cable as is, so will be black in colour (or black with a red line for 8 AWG and 6 AWG options).

The Sleeved option adds a Techflex Sleeve to your cable. This adds a nice aesthetic touch to your cable with a colour of your choice.

The sleeve colours currently on offer are: Black, White, Red, Blue, Green, Black/Green, Red/Blue and Orange for all cable options with the exception of our 6 AWG wire. Sleeving for our 6 AWG wire only comes in black as we need a larger size to suit the larger wire and don't currently stock this in a range of colours.

PLUG TYPE - END A & END B

Options: Bare Wire, Lugs, SB50 Anderson and MC4

Bare Wire: 100mm of each conductor is left at each end. Wire is not stripped.

Lugs: Lugs and fitted and heat shrinked. Lug sizes include M4, M5, M6, M8 and M10 (subject to wire size)

SB50 Anderson: We use genuine SB50 Anderson plugs (not Anderson 'style' plugs). You can choose from Grey, Red, Blue, Green, Black and Yellow Anderson housings.

The different coloured Anderson housings are not purely aesthetic. Ie a Red housing won't plug into a Grey housing, they are designed to only be mated with the same colour.

MC4: We use the genuine and original Stäubli MC4 connectors. Amperage ratings suit wire gauge (22.5A for 13 AWG, 39A for 11 AWG and 69A for 8 AWG). MC4 plugs are not available for 6 AWG cables.

ADD IN LINE FUSE?

Options: 10A, 15A, 20A, 30A, 40A, 50A, 60A, 70A, 80A

This option adds an in line fuse at the end of your choice. Blade fuses are used when 10A-20A fuses are chosen. MIDI fuses are used when 30A-80A fuses are chosen.

And just like that, you have your fully custom cable!
