External Current Sensing for PowerControl and PowerAssist

The Victron 100A:50mA Current Transformer clips around an existing live AC conductor to measure current externally, without routing that current through the inverter/charger itself. Feeding this data to a MultiPlus-II or MultiPlus 20kW allows the system to implement PowerControl and PowerAssist, and to optimise self-consumption by tracking how much power is flowing to or from the grid - all without the cost and complexity of a full DIN-rail energy meter.

This wire-end, 20 metre version is the design fitted to newer MultiPlus-II units and the MultiPlus 20kW, which use a two-wire terminal connection rather than the 3.5mm headphone jack found on older MultiPlus-II models. The split-core clamp opens and closes around the conductor, making it a fast retrofit for installations where there's no room for a dedicated energy meter.

Important Notes

This current transformer measures current only, not voltage, and provides single-phase monitoring only - it is less accurate at low currents than a dedicated energy meter. It suits newer MultiPlus-II units and the MultiPlus 20kW only; older MultiPlus-II units that use a 3.5mm headphone jack connection require the corresponding jack-type current transformer instead.
