High-Power Smart Charging for Dual-Battery 12V Systems

The Victron Orion XS 12/12-70A is the higher-power sibling in Victron's Orion XS DC-DC charger range, adjustable from 1A up to 70A in 0.1A steps for a continuous output of up to 1000W. It is built for dual-battery setups in 4WDs, caravans and boats, charging a 12V auxiliary battery - including lithium - from a 12V starter battery or smart alternator, with an adjustable low-voltage cut-off that protects the starter battery from deep discharge.

To deliver that extra power in the same compact case as the 50A model, the 70A version adds an integrated cooling fan. Its power electronics are housed in an IP65 enclosure, but Victron rates the complete unit at IP20 because of the fan opening, so it is intended for a dry, indoor-type location such as inside a canopy or cabinetry rather than fully exposed to the weather.

Configuration and monitoring are handled over built-in Bluetooth Smart via the VictronConnect app, with a full adaptive 4-stage charge algorithm, eight pre-programmed battery profiles and full lithium customisation. A VE.Direct port allows a wired connection to a GX device for system-wide monitoring and DVCC, and an unlimited number of units can be paralleled for higher combined output.
