High-Power 48V to 12V Conversion and Battery Charging

The Victron Orion 48/12-60 steps a 48V DC supply down to a regulated 12V output, delivering up to 60A continuous (65A maximum) to run 12V equipment, lighting and accessories from a 48V battery bank or system. A temperature-controlled cooling fan allows it to sustain this higher power level in a compact enclosure, at 92% efficiency.

Output voltage is adjustable from 10-15V (factory set to 13.2V) via an onboard potentiometer, so the Orion 48/12-60 can also buffer-charge a 12V starter or accessory battery from a 48V system. It can be connected in parallel with other Orion 48/12-60 units - up to five - to scale total output current, and a remote on/off connector allows it to be switched with a low-power switch or an engine run/stop signal.

This is a non-isolated converter - input and output share a common negative - so it is not intended for applications requiring galvanic isolation between circuits. Power connections are made via M6 bolts, and the unit is rated for an operating temperature range of -20°C to +55°C, derating 3% per °C above 40°C.
