Short answer: the Coorong is Exotronic's 12V board with a 3000 VA Victron inverter/charger on it, plus solar, DC-DC charging and a battery monitor, all wired, fused and tested before it leaves them. It suits a van or bus build that wants to run 230 V gear and charge from shore power, solar and the alternator, without designing and wiring the lot from scratch. It costs a fair bit more than the Victron boxes on their own, and that gap is the board, the cabling, the protection and the labour. If you'd rather wire it yourself, every main part is linked below.
One thing up front: the listings say lead times vary, so check with us before you order for the current wait.
What's on the board?
Exotronic's own list, in plain words:
- Victron MultiPlus-II 12/3000/120-32 inverter/charger. Makes 230 V from the battery, charges the battery from shore power (up to 120 A), and switches over automatically when you plug in or unplug. Exotronic quote 2400 W continuous, which matches Victron's 25°C figure (less when it's hotter; our inverter guide explains why 3000 VA isn't 3000 W). A Victron Digital Multi Control on a 9 m cable lets you switch it on, off or to charger-only from somewhere handy.
- Victron SmartSolar MPPT 100/50. The solar controller, pre-wired to a red Anderson plug for the panels.
- Victron Orion-Tr Smart 12/12-30 (non-isolated). Charges the house battery from the alternator while you drive, smart alternators included, through a grey Anderson plug to the start battery.
- Victron BMV-712 battery monitor. State of charge, volts, amps and time-to-go on Bluetooth, with its display on a 9 m cable.
- Protection and distribution. A 400 A MEGA fuse on 70 mm² double-insulated cable for the inverter, a 12-way blade fuse block with Exotronic circuit breakers for the DC circuits, and safety-switch protection on the incoming and outgoing AC.
It ships with a wiring diagram showing example connections for the solar, start battery and AC.
What do I still have to connect?
The outside world. The house battery bank, the solar array (to the red Anderson), the start battery (to the grey Anderson), and the AC in and out. The DC side is plugs and lugs. The 230 V side is fixed wiring, and in a van or caravan that's a licensed electrician's job; our 230 V guide has the rules. Mounting is wall or floor, with pre-drilled holes.
Landscape, portrait or split?
Same parts, different shape, to suit where it's going:
| Layout | Size (Exotronic) | Weight (Exotronic) | Price |
|---|---|---|---|
| Landscape | 1150 x 355 x 170 mm | 33 kg | $4,219.95 |
| Portrait | 530 x 750 x 170 mm | 33 kg | $4,209.95 |
| Split | 530 x 355 x 100 mm board | 10.2 kg plus components | $4,209.95 |
Landscape suits a long, low space like under a bed. Portrait suits a cupboard. The split separates the high-current inverter side from the control side, which helps with heat and cable runs. They ship on a pallet and the driver won't unload, so a business address or someone to help is a good idea.
Who does it suit, and who doesn't it?
Good fit: a van, bus or motorhome build where you want 230 V (a microwave, induction, power tools), shore charging, solar and alternator charging, all from Victron, and you'd rather not spend weeks designing, sourcing and crimping. You still need to size the battery and solar to suit; our sizing guide starts there.
Not such a good fit: if you don't need 230 V, a board built around a 3000 VA inverter is money spent on the wrong thing. If you want monitoring on a screen and remote access, the Karijini adds a Cerbo GX. And if you enjoy the build and know your cable and fuse sizing, doing it yourself is cheaper. Our pre-wired vs DIY vs auto-electrician guide goes through that choice honestly.
The board vs buying the parts
Here are the main units on the Coorong at our prices, and what the board costs:
| Qty | Part | Our price each |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Victron MultiPlus-II 12/3000/120-32 | $1,524.95 |
| 1 | Victron SmartSolar MPPT 100/50 | $224.95 |
| 1 | Victron Orion-Tr Smart 12/12-30A non-isolated | $264.95 |
| 1 | Victron BMV-712 Smart | $184.95 |
| 1 | Victron Digital Multi Control 200/200A | $189.95 |
| The board, 70 mm² cabling, 400 A MEGA fuse, 12-way blade fuse block, circuit breakers, AC safety switches, Anderson connectors, assembly and testing | not on our store on its own | |
| Parts total (listed parts only) | $2,389.75 |
The whole kit: Exotronic - Coorong Series - Pre-wired Victron Board - Landscape, $4,219.95.
So the board costs a good deal more than the Victron boxes alone. That difference buys everything in the last row: the board, the heavy cable, the main fuse, the DC distribution, the AC protection, the plugs, and the assembly and testing. Whether that's worth it comes down to your time, your skills and what an auto-electrician would charge you to do the same.
